The Bohemian Caverns of today is expanded to accommodate a larger
patronage with the addition of three above ground levels. The total square
footage provides over 14 thousand feet of public area. A main floor
entrance evokes an elegant style of a contemporary mansion, featuring a
double-door opening to a cozy foyer. An etched glass wall promotes homage to
the legacy of the great Duke Ellington. Upon entering, mahogany stained wood
frames the room as a tribute to the classical style of fine accommodations. The
foyer is appointed with fresh floral décor, accentuated by ornate
lighting arrangements. The new main dinning area is everything one would expect
of a four star hotel, with the atmosphere of luxury and attention to detail.
The decorative wall images are a tribute to the legacy of Washington and U
Street as a Cultural Center for Jazz. At the far end of the dining area is an
appropriately located fireplace and lounge, complete with a piano, projecting a
warm, sumptuous feeling. The dining room will offer a complete
3-5-course menu of contemporary and traditional American cuisine consisting of
Poultry, Seafood, and Beef dishes with special emphases on barbecue. The
executive chef comes with an extensive background working with a wide range of
cuisine in quality establishments. Our wait staffs are well-trained
experienced professionals, with extensive knowledge in food and beverages, and
an appreciation for the fine points of great table service.

The Caverns |
Representing the rich history of the former Bohemian Caverns was no
easy task. The new décor in the below ground club goes beyond
all-previous interiors in terms of dramatize effect, acoustics, and comfort.
Colorful textured walls and ceilings are an embellished
representation of the former stalactite and stalagmite accents. Corner seating
bays are mounted against the walls adjacent to a fireplace lounge area.
The mood of the new Caverns is dramatically illuminated and accentuated by
a modest stage in the center back wall flanked by colored tree-limb cavern
columns. Small waterfalls punctuate the bar from intriguing recessed carving
into adjacent wall space. The bar features a rough-cut glazed pure-marble top,
which is repeated on the wall-mounted drink stands. Guest furnishings
are apropos in the form of wood tree-trunks dining tables. Light appetizer fare
is available for patrons, in addition to a unique drink menu and is served
before, during, or after performances. Upstairs; the second landing
presents a lively nightclub atmosphere, with two spacious lounges and bars. The
level, known as Club 2001, is well suited for dancing and private parties, and
features a DJ booth for mixing recorded music with appropriate lighting. The
Club 2001 allows for a diversity of entertainment with separate entrance from
the Club Caverns. The high ceiling and two-story balcony framed by decorative
wrought-iron railings, creates an elegant but festive atmosphere, with the
capacity to entertain over 300 people. |
