Bohemian caverns to Host the First Live Performance in the cave since the 1970's Starring Legendary Norman Connors Featuring Jean Crane

The Bohemian Caverns, U Street's historical home of jazz and blues, will host the first live performance in its celebrated cave since the 1970's starring Norman Connors featuring Jean Crane. Originally know as The Crystal Caverns when it opened in 1926, the club grew to be the preeminent jazz music club in the Capitol City where the great jazz musicians of the day would come to perform after they finished their gigs in all-white establishments. Legendary artists such as Billie Holiday, Count Basie, Sarah Vaugn, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Billy Eckstein, and John Coltrance have graced the stage of The Caverns.

The décor of the club was as renowned as the performers who graced its stage. Built in the opulent Art Deco age of the Roaring Twenties, The Bohemian Caverns' interior reflects its name. The faux stalactites and stalagmites on the walls and ceilings removed the patron from the gritty reality of the urban setting to a fantasy place where they could escape and be treated to some of the greatest music on earth.

Norman Connors, pioneer of smooth jazz, will perform in Washington, DC on Thursday June 7th, and Friday, June 8th, along with renowned jazz vocalist, Jean Carne, at U Street's historic home of jazz and blues, The Bohemian Caverns, 11th & U Streets, N.W. Show times are 8:00PM and 10:00PM for both nights.

Norman Connors, an acclaimed drummer, began his career in jazz in the 1960's playing with suck greats as Archie Shepp and Pharaoh Saunders. In 1975, his album "Saturday Night Special" launched him into the mainstream with the Top 10 hit featuring Michael Henderson and Jean Carne "Valentine Love." However, it was his 1976 album "you Are My Starship" featuring Phyllis Hyman that launched his illustrious recording career. With a career spanning four decades Norman Connors has become known for his distinct ability to bring together great musicians to produce great music.
